Grayson, Ga (August 30, 2010)- Cinderella’s Closet & More of Atlanta (CCMA ),  A LOCAL 501(c)3, announces the start of this year’s Ultimate Prom Giveaway Contest where one male and one female high school junior or senior that volunteers will win custom prom dress or tuxedo, prom transportation, corsage, hair services and more. Only students demonstrating financial need currently enrolled in Barrow, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Fulton, Rockdale and Walton County public schools are eligible. Contest runs September 1, 2010 through February 28, 2011.

 

“This contest is designed to encourage disadvantaged teens in Metro Atlanta to give back to the community. Teens should feel empowered by volunteering,” explains Germaine Leroux, Executive Director of CCMA. “The Ultimate Prom Giveaway Contest was created to provide an incentive to get kids involved.”

 

Students must submit a 300-500 word essay, a contest application, a nomination application signed by a school counselor, teacher, church pastor, social worker, etc. and an official letter from a 501(c)3 stating that the student has completed  8-10 hours of volunteering locally. One male and one female who has gone above and beyond in volunteerism and community service will be chosen as the contest winner and announced in March 2011.

“This has always been my dream,” says Leroux. “Last year we were able to help so many students attend prom. I feel so great knowing that CCMA helped so many dreams of attending prom come true.”

The qualified applicants that do not win the Ultimate Prom Giveaway Contest are still eligible to receive free prom attire from CCMA. Eligible students will be contacted by CCMA and prom attire and services are available only while supplies last.

ABOUT CINDERELLA’S CLOSET & MORE OF ATLANTA (CCMA): Cinderella’s Closet & More of Atlanta Inc. (CCMA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which provides free prom attire to financially disadvantaged high school juniors and seniors who are otherwise unable to afford attending prom. CCMA requires good academic standing and volunteerism of all participating students. CCMA Inc. was started in August 2008 by Executive Director, Germaine M. Leroux. CCMA’s mission is to help local students realize their dreams of attending prom and to help students recognize the many benefits of volunteerism.

Terry Hammock Memorial Golf Tournament

Love golf? Enjoy the 1st Annual Terry Hammock Memorial Golf Tournament on September 8, 2010. This day will include a round of golf, including the greens fees, a cart, lunch & dinner, tee favors, a golf shirt. The range balls will be provided by The Chimneys Golf Course.

Proceeds to benefit the Harlee Hammock Scholarship Fund.  Harlee is the 9 year old daughter of Terry Hammock, a Grayson man who was killed in a tragic automobile accident. The cost is $80 to play.
